Standard patch test
Our standard patch test is based on ISO 10993-10 section 6.5 and the guidelines of the German Dermatological Society (DDG) and the German Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology (DGAKI) on “Performance of the epicutaneous test with contact allergens” (AWMF guideline register). The test products are applied in a suitable concentration to a self-adhesive patch and applied under closed (occlusive) conditions for 24 or even 48 hours. This makes it possible to test the tolerability of products or substances under intensified conditions. Reactions are assessed based on morphological characteristics in line with the recommendations by the ICDRG (International Contact Dermatitis Research Group). Since the development of the reactions provides information regarding the type of reaction (allergic or irritative), three readings are taken as our quality standard. The first assessment is performed 30 to 60 minutes after the patch is removed, and second and third readings are taken 24 and 48 hours following the first one.
