In this process, a pattern made up of parallel lines is projected onto a specific area of skin and photographed using a CCD camera. The slightest variations in skin surface height disturb the parallel line pattern and make it possible to measure the wrinkle depth. The depth of a wrinkle is calculated by selecting the shape of a cross-section and measuring the absolute depth of the wrinkle.
