Visioscan VC20 plus
Skin smoothness, roughness, flaky skin, wrinkles, virtual skin plumping
Many products affect the topography of skin, such as its smoothness or roughness, amount of scaliness and depth and/or quantity of wrinkles. The mode of action of these products can be investigated by way of a surface topography analysis of the skin using an image analysis technique such as the Visioscan VC 20plus camera software system (Courage + Khazaka electronic GmbH). This device comes with a special high-resolution b/w video chip, a lens and a UVA light source. The software calculates a greyscale value for a defined skin area by assigning different grey values at high resolution to each pixel according to the heights and depths of the skin surface topography (deeper is darker). The calculated value changes whenever the skin surface topography changes. This means that the effects of cosmetic products on skin smoothness/roughness as well as on scaliness or wrinkles can be made visible and quantifiable.
