Testing on stressed skin/strip patch test

One possibility to imitate stressed skin or to test substances with poor penetration through the skin is the strip patch test. Here, the uppermost layers of epidermis (stratum corneum) are removed using an adhesive strip, thus facilitating or increasing the penetration of the test substance. This is followed by a standard closed or open epicutaneous test.
