More than just numbers –
real safety for your skin
With over 5,000 test persons, more than 4,000 product tests per year and over 45 years of experience, Dermatest represents tested safety. Over 500 brands worldwide trust our expertise because we test skin compatibility responsibly and scientifically.
That is why it is so important to us that, before a product comes into contact with your skin, it first undergoes a detailed safety assessment of its ingredients by our experts. Only then is it approved for testing.
In addition to skin compatibility, we also test the effectiveness of products. We use various skin-friendly measurements and other scientific methods that do not stress the skin. This ensures that products are not only compatible, but also deliver what they promise.

What is an epicutaneous test or patch test?
In an epicutaneous test, also known as a patch test, a product or ingredient is applied to the skin under controlled conditions, usually on the back. It is then covered with a small patch for 24 to 48 hours. Afterwards, the skin is checked for any reactions and you will receive your expense allowance. The goal is to evaluate the skin compatibility of the product safely and objectively.
What is a Safety-in-Use study?
A Safety-in-Use study checks how well a product is tolerated in everyday use. You test it as you would a real care product. After registering for a study, you will receive all the information you need and an initial appointment with us. Then your “test phase” will begin and you will use the product at home as agreed. After the final appointment and a short questionnaire, you will receive your expense allowance.
