If you have any questions about our tests or products, please always provide your contact details—even if you are already registered as a test person. This is important for your participation
Thank you for participating in our study as a test person. You are the most important part of the test, so we ask that you carefully follow the instructions below.
- Please do not use any test products, creams, or other cosmetics for 6–8 hours before a skin physiology measurement.
- Please come to your appointments without makeup if measurements or photos are to be taken.
- After your arrival: please allow approx. 20 minutes for acclimatization before the measurement begins.
- You can participate in a maximum of 3 studies at the same time, as long as they take place on different areas of the skin.
- You need a break of 2 weeks between two studies on the same skin area.
If you cannot or do not want to continue using the product, please contact us immediately. If you notice an undesirable skin reaction, please contact us directly. If possible, take a photo of the affected area (e.g., with your cell phone) and send it to us.
All important information in one place
We are looking for test persons of all ages and skin types for our testing program at Dermatest®—that means you too! Many of our test persons have been with us for years and regularly participate in studies.
Our experts select the appropriate participants for each study. The youngest participants are particularly important to us, as we naturally test baby care products and diapers. Since babies quickly outgrow this phase, we constantly need new participants.
Please note: Our studies take place in Münster (Westphalia) and the surrounding area—longer journeys are unfortunately not possible.
We test all products that may come into contact with our skin in any way, such as body creams, nail polish remover, face masks, body powder, soaps, shower gels, disinfectants, detergents, sunscreens, bandages, makeup removers, foot creams, baby lotions, diapers, cleaning products, and much more. This means that many product tests can be easily integrated into your everyday life.
“Ethnicity” refers to your origin or affiliation with a population group. This information helps us to better classify study results, as skin texture and reactions can vary depending on origin.
The Fitzpatrick scale describes how your skin reacts to sunlight. From very fair skin that burns quickly to very dark skin that rarely burns. This allows us to evaluate studies more accurately and adapt them to your skin.
Yes. Before a product is even tested, it undergoes a detailed safety assessment by experts. Only then is it tested in a study.
All products are checked and evaluated in accordance with legal requirements. They may only be used once they have been classified as safe.
From scheduling appointments to implementation and final checks, we accompany you every step of the way.
Basically, yes, but it always depends on the specific study. We will check with you in advance to see whether you meet the eligibility requirements.
Yes, as long as the studies do not overlap. We will be happy to advise you on this.
Yes, that is possible. It is just important that you inform us of your participation.
That depends on the study. Please discuss this with your test center in advance.
The amount varies depending on the study. You will find out at the beginning of the study.
You will usually receive your payment in cash, by bank transfer, or in the form of a voucher after completing the study.

In most cases, you should keep your skin clean and free of skincare products. You will receive detailed instructions in good time before your appointment.
Please inform us about all medications you are taking. We will discuss together whether they have any influence on the study.
Test persons refer test persons - Do you know someone with neurodermatitis, psoriasis or acne?
Do you know any babies, children, or adults with atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, or acne?
Then, for each new participant you personally refer who successfully completes a study, you can receive €10.
